About the Role
We are seeking a skilled GIS Analyst to support geospatial and remote sensing tasks for our sustainable forestry projects. The candidate will combine technical GIS proficiency with a passion for forest conservation to drive impactful solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide GIS and remote sensing support to Project Management and Natural Forest Management teams.
- Produce maps and spatial analyses for project planning and documentation.
- Conduct fieldwork: lead teams in forest carbon inventory (DBH, crown cover, tree height) and use handheld GPS tools for navigation.
- Train local community members in GPS mapping and navigation techniques.
- Manage geospatial data, perform cartography, digitization, raster processing, and geodatabase organization.
- Collaborate with a dynamic, multidisciplinary team to address real-world conservation challenges.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in physical geography, forestry, environmental science, or a related field, with a focus on GIS/remote sensing.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in forestry, conservation, or geospatial analysis, with hands-on forest inventory expertise.
- Technical Skills: (a) Proficiency in ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, and or QGIS. (b) Experience with geospatial data management, raster processing, and cartography. (c) Programming knowledge in Python, saR, or Google Earth Engine is a plus.
- Field Skills: Comfortable working in forest environments, conducting forest measurements, and training stakeholders.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Language: Fluency in Indonesian (required); proficiency in English is preferred.
