About the Role

As the Head of Sustainability, you will lead Orimba's Sustainability Department to drive impactful change and reinforce OAK's commitment to sustainable forestry. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a difference through leadership, collaboration, and innovation.

Key responsibilities:

1. ESG Governance

  • Develop and implement sustainability policies, programs, and initiatives.
  • Oversee monitoring and reporting of ESG metrics and compliance with relevant standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in Orimba's sustainability performance.

2. Sustainable Forest Partnership Program (SFPP)

  • Engage and collaborate with partner suppliers to promote sustainable practices.
  • Conduct training and capacity-building activities for suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Manage program activities, team development, and stakeholder relationships.
  • Address grievances and ensure alignment with Orimba's sustainability vision.

3. Communications

  • Serve as the key spokesperson for Orimba's sustainability efforts.
  • Enhance transparency and build trust with stakeholders through effective communication.
  • Develop reports, presentations, and outreach materials that highlight sustainability initiatives and achievements.

Qualifications

We are looking for a passionate and experienced leader with the following qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Conservation, or a related field.
  • Expertise: Extensive experience in forestry, sustainable forest management (SFM), and improved forest management practices, particularly Reduced Impact Logging (RIL).
  • Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with industrial compliance standards (PHPL, SVLK) and international voluntary standards (FSC, PEFC).
  • Environmental & Social Understanding: Strong knowledge of conservation, biodiversity, GHG emissions from land use, and community engagement practices such as Social Impact Assessment (SIA) and Free Prior Informed Consent (FPIC).
  • Leadership: Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to oversee cross-departmental initiatives.
  • Skills: Critical thinking, creativity, and excellent communication skills.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Demonstrated ability to manage and engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to sites and remote operational areas of partner suppliers.
